CSAWE is a Switzerland-registered non-profit association working between Switzerland and Kenya to support women and youth through practical climate-smart agriculture and community-based learning.
We bring together scientific knowledge, field experience, and local expertise to strengthen food security and climate resilience through solutions people can use, adapt, and share.
We train women and youth in Kenya to grow food using cone gardens and climate-smart farming methods, combining hands-on field training, demonstration sites and farmer to farmer learning to make food production possible even with limited land and resources.

Farmer-to-farmer community training and knowledge sharing
Through TILTH, CSAWE is currently working with 20 women and youth farmer groups across five wards in Homa Bay County, representing an estimated 1,500 community members. Through lead farmers, practical training and demonstration sites, we are building a model designed to carry climate-smart agriculture from one training into many households.

The first pilot starts in Migori County with HOFOGI, turning the idea of climate-smart agriculture for women’s empowerment into practical cone-gardening training. This is your genuine origin story.
The Migori pilot is completed, local trainers have been trained, and the CSAWE Cone Gardening Handbook turns the practical experience into a resource that can be used again.
TILTH — Technology for Inclusive Land Transformation and Harvest — begins in Homa Bay County, expanding the pilot into a farmer-led model across five wards and 20 women and youth farmer groups.
TILTH moves into active field implementation: lead farmers, cone-garden demonstrations, farmer training and monitoring are joined by a bachelor thesis collaboration exploring the nutritional potential of cone gardens.
CSAWE acquires access to a demonstration plot in Homa Bay County, planned as a permanent learning space for training, crop trials, soil and water practices, monitoring and research.
